We updated our Equipment page. Check it out!

We have two new toys. I am anxiously anticipating on tryingthem out at a private residence next weekend! One is a new digital camera with infrared night vision and a high definition camcorder with infrared night vision, both Howell and Bell.

I will post a little article on the usage of these new tools after next week. Hopefully they'll be so useful, they'll capture a paranormal happening! ;)

One thing is for sure, you'll be receiving a lot of video footage from our investigations on our blog and website.

Boneyard Blitz with KCPI

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations is hosting a Boneyard Blitz month for July 2011. We will be investigating well known cemeteries known for paranormal activity all month long.

We want to share our findings with you in person on July 30, 2011 at Union Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. following with a tour sharing our past experiences that have taken place in Union Cemetery, sharing ghostly tales about the cemetery, educating you about some of the historical individuals that are housed in the cemetery, and we want to hear your paranormal stories.

Upon admission, there is a $5.00 fee per individual. Children under 5 are free, all ages welcomed. 100% of the donation fees are donated to the Union Cemetery Historical Society to help maintain and preserve the cemetery.

Upon admission, you will be required to sign a waiver of liability due to the nature of topic and touring the grounds.

Free bottled water and minimal canned soda will be available. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated the Jackson County 1859 Jail, Marshall's Home and Museum in Independence, Missouri.

Symptoms:

Staff and visitors of the jail house experience extreme cold spots, extreme nausea, the feeling of being watched, an and apparition of a gentleman.

Sunny, 60's, mild winds.

EVP #1 (Stephanie is using her audio and MEL EMF detector, receives a spike and EVP. We believe it is a female saying "Hi" and "Come".)

EVP #2 (Tom asks our new member Mellanie if it is her first investigation, a female spirit pops in and responds with a "Yes".)

EVP #3 (A male spirit pops in and says "What?", Dayna responds asking "What?" thinking it was Ronnie, he claims he didn't say anything, and Jan responds questioning if someone said "What?")

Hello folks!

KCPI membership interviews at Starbucks Coffee went very well. We are so thankful for everyone taking the time out of their schedules to come and meet with us. We added a new addition to our team, Robin. We feel Robin will be a fantastic addition to the team. Congratulations and welcome!

KCPI investigated a private residence in North Kansas City, Missouri last week. We are in the midsts of going through our data for a team review. We will post any findings after our reveal with the clients.

We will be investigating the Jackson County Jail in Independence, Missouri later this month. We are really looking forward to exploring this historical location.

CASE: Private Residence

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated a private residence in Belton, Missouri.

Symptoms:
The clients have been experiencing activity in the home for a few months. Some of the symptoms of the activity includes a woman humming, shadows in a monitor, apparition of a male, lights turning off and on, and more.

EVP #1 (During a time everyone is talking, an EVP captured by Josie, comes through at the 4 second part to the 7 second part. We believe it is saying "I wanna get out, I don't know why".

EVP #2 (At the 2 second part, Jan hears a male spirit say "Hiii", which was captured on audio at the time he acknowledges it.)

VIDEO #1 (interesting video taken by Jan, the video captures an EVP at the 15-17 second part when Stephanie sits down next to Jan. We believe a male comes through and says "Sit down you c*nt".

KCPI had a great deal of success with this investigation. We really enjoyed our time at the private residence and helping the clients with the paranormal activity that was experienced in the home.

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated the Belvoir Winery/Odd Fellows in Liberty, Missouri.
KCPI held a contest called "Your Night with A Flashlight". Our winner of the contest, Erica, contributed with the investigating of the Belvoir Winery/Odd Fellows.
KCPI also had a special guest investigator, Chris Brethwaite, contributing with the investigation.

Symptoms:
Belvoir Winery/Odd Fellows is an infamous location known for paranormal activity. It is known for shadow people, tugs on clothing, the sounds of children laughing, screams, and people walking on the hardwood floors.

Stroud's Restaurant

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated Stroud's Restaurant in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Symptoms:
Stroud's Restaurant has had some activity reported by customers who see a little girl with blonde hair running through a door way or sitting on a stool. Scott, the overnight caretaker of the restaurant, experiences his name being called, a door pushed into his back while vaccuming, and boots walking around on the upper floor (the office). He's seen shadows walking around outside by the bay windows as well.

We were able to pick up a phenomenal amount of EVPs through audio and the Ghost Box (more than one word fragments during channel sweeps). We feel the activity may very well be hit and miss as far as personal experiences.

The Savoy Hotel

Date of Investigation: 12/9/10
Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated The Savoy Hotel in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Symptoms:
There is folklore that surrounds The Savoy Hotel about a woman who passed in the bathtub of room 505 who haunts the apartment to this day by turning on the shower and closing the shower curtain. There is an apparition of a gentleman wandering in the halls of the 4th floor. Unexplained phenomenon follows the elevator that operates in the hotel today. A gentleman who was doing maintenance, the elevator fell on top of him on his second day on the job. In The Savoy Grill Restaurant the registers are played with by what the staff considers to be a ghost residing within the hotel. There is also reports of running on the 3rd floor.

Based on the audio evidence we were able to pull from The Savoy Hotel, there is some probable paranormal activity.

Your own tool box!

Our members are purchasing new equipment to explore with during our paranormal investigations. CLICK HERE to see what KCPI is currently using.

We thought we would share the best tools to use for an effective paranormal investigation for anyone interested in performing their own and creating their own tool box.

A tool we would recommend is a digital audio recorder. Paranormal investigators use this as a technique to communicate with the spirit world. A series of questions and states are said by the investigators that sometimes are followed by an answer from an unknown presence.

Another tool we would recommend is an electromagnetic field detector. Paranormal investigators use this to measure a spirits energy as they manifest. A manifestation happens when energy is gathered by a spirit to make themselves known. The device aids with detecting with this occurs.

A video camera is a great tool to use to! This will help with capturing any occurances in the environment that may be taking place that you've witnessed as paranormal phenomenon. Example: an apparition, items moving, shadows, even audible recording from the video camera, etc.

Don't forget a flashlight for safety and a journal to document the evironment, temperatures, times, etc.

The absolute most important tool of them all is your senses. Listening, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching.

CASE: Private Residence

Date of Investigation: 10/29/10
Kansas City Paranormal Investigations was reached out by a local family in Blue Springs, Missouri that was experiencing intense paranormal phenomenon within their home.
Due to the intense paranormal phenomenon experienced within the home, KCPI called upon ELITE Paranormal to assist with the investigation.

Symptoms:
An apparition of an older man in a black suit appears on the stair case in the entry way, items moving, doors opening and closing, bed shaking, and shadows running up and down the staircase. Bite marks appeared on the oldest child with 3 scratches on the back. Another child experienced intense dreams.

Legitimate paranormal phenomenon was experienced by all of the investigators that were present during the consultation and investigation. Data was obtained during the investigation to validate the experiences the family had within the home.
We found there was a group of spirits that were inhabiting the home, some more than others at times. A few of which were negative entities, some historic entities. David Franklin Farkas felt there was two demonic forces. The family had one attached haunting from a loved one that passed under unfortunate circumstances. The spirit attached to the family served as a protector against the negative entities.
We felt the two oldest children were very strong sensitives. The entities were drawn to the children. We felt it was crucial for the children to join a peer support group for sensitives.
Overall, the family was pleased to have their experiences validated. The property received a cleansing that allowed the activity to deaden for a few days. Some activity is still occuring, though it has become less bothersome to the children.
Unfortunately, the family is moving to another location. We wish them the best on their next destination.

Ray County Museum

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations investigated the Ray County Museum in Richmond, Missouri.

Symptoms:
Paranormal activity has been experienced at the Ray County Museum such as apparitions of an African American man named "Big John", items moving, breaking and being put back together on their own, tugs on clothing they believe to be a girl named female voices coming from the Grandma's Kitchen room, and more.

Weather Conditions:
Clear skies, dry.

Temperature Indoors:
The temperature indoors ranged in the upper 60's.

Temperature Outdoors:
The temperature outdoors ranged in the mid 60's.

General EMF Readings:
We used the ELF Zone EMF reader. During the investigation, it kept itself in the "Safe" mode. We also used the KII. Readings were low.

Personal Experiences:
During an EVP session, Tom requested any entities within the museum to make a noise. Movement took place in a room where no one was present. Carlina requested for any entities to knock acknowledging another KCPI member, Mitzi (who had been to the museum before). A knock came from a room where no one was present.
Before wrapping things up for the night, we stood at the top of the stair case that leads to all floor levels of the museum. Temperature readings were in the mid-upper 60's, fairly steady. Tom motivated any entities in the immediate area to take energy from the air to manifest themselves into dropping the temperature. As requested, it dropped drastically to 60.7. He wanted it at 60.0 on the temperature gun.

We were not able to capture any paranormal evidence at the Ray County Museum, however, it is a phenomenal building with a lot of historical background. We recommend for other investigators to check out the building for possible activity.

Underground Salt Museum

Kansas City Paranormal Investigatons assisted PEDRO Paranormal at the Hutch Haunts in the Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Symptoms:
Miners have experienced an apparition of a gentleman riding a bike in the underground salt mine, an apparition of a past worker who passed of natural causes, tools disappearing, and engravings appear on the walls made of salt (ex. LIGHTNER) from an unknown source.

What a busy weekend! We kicked off the weekend with a trip to Hutchinson, Kansas to the Underground Salt Mine to assist PEDRO Paranormal. We had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours in the mine to run audio and video to capture any evidence of paranormal activity. We are in the midst of reviewing any findings.
A huge thank you goes to Mitzi M., Joe K., Nellie and Brian for inviting us. It was a fun trip!

Then we headed to Richmond, Missouri yesterday to investigate the Ray County Museum. We are in the midst of reviewing any findings as well.
Another huge thank you goes to Karen B. from Ray County Museum for opening the doors and allowing us to investigate the building. We enjoyed the stories and tour!

On October 9th I visited Union Cemetery with a few friendly guests who were interested in witnessing a paranormal phenomenon.
Unfortunately, we were not able to witness anything, but we were able to catch a couple EVPs that were quite impressive. We wanted to share them with you.

Types of Hauntings.

In theory, there are a few different types of hauntings when paranormal activity is present.

Intelligent Haunting
An intelligent haunting takes place when an entity is communicating and interacting with the living. They have a type of personality. Some symptoms include hearing voices, closing doors, moving objects, and physical manifestations.

Inhuman Haunting
An inhuman haunting takes place when the entity has never been in human form. Most of the time you find that these are malevolent. Attempts to take possession of humans. Some symptoms include scratching, pushing, hitting, rotten smells, and possession.

Residual Haunting
A residual haunting takes place when a strong impression of energy is left behind. The entity has repeatitive behaviors or speech. Some other symptoms include foot steps and music from another time period.

EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon. An EVP takes place when a recording device captures sounds or speech that is not taking place in the physical environment at the time of recording.

Paranormal investigators use this as a technique to communicate with the spirit world. Series of questions are asked that are sometimes followed with an answer from an unknown presence. This can only be heard during a playback of the recording. Sometimes the answers are intelligently interactive with responses and sometimes sounds or speech can appear that has little to do with the series of questions being asked.

Anyone can record EVPs. You can use any type of recorder: digital recorder or tape recorder. Though, the better the device records, there will be a better chance for clarity of the EVP.

When you start an EVP session, introduce yourself, invite the spirits to come speak with you, and inform them of your intentions.
During your EVP session do not have a lot of general conversations going, avoid whispering, and make sure you talk clear. This will ensure there is zero human contamination on the playback recording.
Also, be sure to allow an appropriate amount of time between each question for any responses you may get.

Samples of some good questions to ask during an EVP session is "What is your name?", "Why are you here?", "Are you alone?", and "Do you have a message?".

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations performed an investigation at The Elms Resort & Spa in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Symptoms:
Paranormal activity has been experienced at The Elms Resort & Spa over the years. The Al Capone Suite (Room #214) is known for it's infamous EVPs, in Room #140 guests have experienced the feeling of someone watching them, someone sitting on the bed with them, and pressure from the top when laying down, The Truman Suite (Room #300) has been said to of hold a lot of sounds of construction, the hallways of the 2nd and 3rd floor have had apparitions of a little girl wondering and a mother looking for a child, a maid has been seen getting on and off the elevators, and gambling noises are heard in the Truman Board Room.

The client has experienced a mirror falling off the wall without shattering, a wreath falling off the wall, cold spots and squeaking noises in the bathroom.

Janet R. felt a push on her right side in the massage room.
Dawanna, Janet R., and Mindy felt cold spots by their ankles and feet in the massage room.
Dayna S. felt a cool breeze by the second shampoo seat, Janet R. snapped a photo and a big orb appeared in the photo. (Please note: Kansas City Paranormal Investigations takes orbs with a grain of salt unless they have a sign of motion or tails, but the coinsidence that this appeared during that same moment was interesting)

Symptoms:
Paranormal activity has been experienced at The John Wornall House Museum over the years. Staff has experienced an apparition of a man smoking a pipe on the staircase by the main entrance, foot steps on and around the staircase, and the sightings of a little boy peaking around the corner by the gift shop, and more.

Cold with light snow.

Temperature Indoor:
The temperatures indoors fluctuated between the 30's and 50's. In the carriage house, it was 16-20's.

We used the K11 in the main house and in the carriage house. The carriage house holds very high EMF readings, especially upstairs.

Personal Experiences:
Debbe saw a black shadow at the top of the staircase by the children's room quickly move behind Carlina.
Debbe felt a physical sensation by the staircase in the carriage house.
Marsha heard a females voice twice in the dinning room.

Dayna was laying in the center of the bed, felt a soft sensation move up her left hand and a soft sensation move up her left breast. Carlina, Dayna, and Debbe all felt an anxiety and suppression in the lounge room.

HORNET SPOOK LIGHT (1)

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations sought out The Hornet Spook Light in Quapaw, Oklahoma.

Symptoms:
Since the early 1800's, people have experienced a paranormal phenomenon with a ball of light that travels throughout the area of Spook Light Road. Some say the ball of light shows a sign of intelligence and interacts with witnesses, putting off a heat sensation. Sometimes the ball of light separates into 2-4 other balls of light. It is a paranormal phenomenon that continues to happen to this day and it remains unexplainable.

We experienced spikes on the K11 during a series of questions asked by Marsha.

Personal Experiences:
We sat in a ditch on road 50, a rock was tossed from the wooded area across the road that landed between Dayna and Debbe, hitting Dayna's foot. During that same moment, the EMF reader lifted off Debbe's leg and onto the ground between Dayna and Debbe with a small amount of force. This remains questionable.
Dayna was laying on the ground, to the left side walking and shuffling was heard in the leaves. Dayna had the feeling she was going to get walked upon. Quickly sitting up and after a moment of recollecting, an EVP was captured.

Kansas City Paranormal Investigations performed an investigation at a private residence in Kansas City, Missouri. The private residence was currently under going a reconstruction phase.

Symptoms:
The client saw a womans face in the parlor of the residence.
The client felt the feeling someone was watching them while remodeling.
A scent of perfume near a window sill appeared out of nowhere.

Temperature Indoor:
The temperature indoors ranged from 75 degrees to 83 degrees.

1.7 - 2.0 by the front door on the porch of the residence.
6.6 - 7.0 by the outside box.
0.1 - 0.2 on the front outside of the house.
0.4 - 0.5 outside wall of the front bedroom.

Personal Experiences:
Dayna saw 1 black shadow in the attic in the far back left corner during the interview with the client.
Debbe felt a brush against her left cheek and neck area. We captured an EVP that relates to the experience during this time.
Marsha saw 2 black shadows in the attic in the far back left corner during the investigation.
